For my exam, I designed and crafted a sofa called the Pivot Canapé. As the name suggests, the seats of the sofa can pivot and rotate, allowing users to create an armrest or backrest according to their preference. The inspiration for this sofa came from a building located at Lange Vijverberg 15 in The Hague. Specifically, the window shutters of that building became my source of creativity. By rotating the seats, the appearance of the sofa changes, much like how the window shutters alter the look of the building.

Hi, I’m Derek Burrei

The Pivot Canapé is a unique piece that combines functionality and design. I paid careful attention to the details to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional piece of furniture. The rotating element of the sofa gives users the flexibility to customize their sitting experience. This sofa is not just an exam project; it is also an expression of my creativity and craftsmanship.
